Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Male | neutered | 28 lbs
Hello! Today while my mother was petting our dog she noticed a lump on the back of his neck. Unfortunately I have not taken a picture of it but the lump is red and hard when you squeeze it. He is also agitated when you touch it. We are wondering if this lump could be cancerous and what we should do from now on until we schedule a vet appointment.

Without an exam and diagnostics, it is almost impossible to determine if the kump is malignant. Schedule that appointment with your veterinarian. A fine needle aspirate can be done in the clinic to collect samples for pathology. This may provide a diagnosis. Afterwards, you can discuss treatment options with your vet. In the meantime, keep Otis from bothering the area. You can use an e-collar (cone) if necessary.
