Why does my dog stand on my throat when I'm lying down and it hurts?

Why does my dog seem to enjoy standing directly on my throat? He does it when I am laying down and I usllay push him off. Hes only 16lbs but it still is hard to breathe and it hurts. He seems to position his paws to do so. Is he just weird or is there a reason he does this? Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | neutered | 6 years and 9 months old | 16 lbs

That is unusual behavior but I don’t suspect we will ever really know why! Our throats tend to be warm compared to other parts of our body so maybe he likes the heat. He may also like positioning his face to smell your mouth and nose. All just theories! If only Oscar could talk!
