My puppy's back legs seem weak and walk improperly. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Perro de Presa Canario | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 21 days old | 14 lbs

I have a 7 week old Presa Canario puppy, it’s walking fine but it’s upper back legs seem to lack muscle and what’s really worrying me is he walks with his back knee’s sticking outward, and his back feet meet the floor improperly, not flat footed.

I suspect this is a congenital abnormality. I recommend to get Ares examined by the veterinarian. With puppies, sometimes there are treatments available since they are still developing but sometimes there are not any options. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
