My small dog is limping, unbalanced, and not peeing. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 5 months old | 5 lbs

Two days ago small dog started to limp on his hind left leg, day later he is limping on it and his front right leg... After naps he is very unbalanced, and now he has not urinated for 12 hours. Any idea what could be the reason? We aren't sure what caused the limp, we came home to it. He doesn't seem to be in any pain when he does eventually put weight on it.

Poor Benedict! He could be unsteady after naps because his legs are painful. He may have injured himself leading to the limping. As for not peeing for 12 hours, I wouldn't be too worried about that just yet. Rest him tonight, and then I would take him into the vet in the morning. Best of luck.
