Why is my spayed cat's stomach mark red, open, and growing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 11 months and 1 day old

My cat got spayed the end of January and ever since this red mark on her stomach has gotten bigger. You know when you pop a blister and there is open fresh skin, that is what it's like on her stomach

She may be licking excessively which could be contributing to the inflammation. Cats have rough tongues which can traumatize the skin leading to infection. Place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent licking and have her rechecked by your veterinarian. She may need antibiotics and/or anti-inflammatory medications to resolve the issue.
