My cat is attacking his tail & hiding after new cat. Is it stress?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old

I currently own a cat and I brung home a new cat two days ago and I keep him in my room so they can only smell each other from under the door but the cat that I already had has been furiously attacking at his own tail and hiding under beds and blankets I would like to know if this is normal or I should take him to the vet to get him checked.

It seems like having this new cat in the home is stressing out Thomas. I would get a Feliway diffuser for the home, which releases calming pheromones. I would also take him into the vet for a health check. Best of luck.
