Can my diabetic cat occasionally eat my other cat's urinary diet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 14 lbs

My older cat is diabetic and has been for 3 years now. My younger cat had stones removed from his bladder earlier this year and is now on a special urinary care diet. I know my diabetic cat can not have the urinary diet because it's not good for him. Every now and again he sneaks some. Will he be okay? Thanks!

Hello. As long as the majority of your diabetic cat's diet is the proper one, sneaking a few pieces of the other diet is fine. Every diabetic is allowed a treat now & then. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
