Is one artificial insemination enough for my dog to get pregnant?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I started the artificial insemination process on Wednesday with the test to see when she ovulates the most and they said she needs to be between a 10 and 15 The vet I go to said she was at a 6.2 on Wednesday and then on Friday she was at 11.5 so we scheduled an AI on Saturday morning. After that was done they didn’t recommend doing another AI just to come back in 30 days for an ultrasound. I was reading online and it recommended doing it twice. What is her chance of getting pregnant?

One time can be enough to get pregnant, especially if you did the AI when she ovulated. At this point in time, it's probably too late to do it again, but if it doesn't work this time, I'd speak to her vet about doing the process twice the next time she is in heat to maximize your chances. Best of luck.
