My dog is coughing and making strange noises. Is it an emergency?

Our dog has started making strange noises when barking. He also has started making coughing noises that sound like he needs to throw up but nothing comes up. He does this both at rest and when active. We’re not sure if this requires an emergency visit to our vet or not. Pet's info: Dog | Olde English Bulldogge | Male | 7 years and 2 months old | 60 lbs

Poor George! If he's eating and drinking, isn't having trouble breathing, and is otherwise acting normally, this can wait until the morning. Should he not be eating or drinking, has trouble breathing, and/or is very lethargic, take him into an ER vet right away. Best of luck.
