My dog has a bite wound. Are the antibiotics and pain meds enough?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 10 months old | 28.665 lbs

What proper treatment can be given to my dog? The rabies injection was given to him the previous month and the dog which bite him is also a pet and is vaccinated regularly. We are giving him cephalexin antibiotics and meloxicam 2.5mg painkillers. There us no teeth Mark and the skin is just pulled up and cut inches.?

Hi, I would recommend you clip all the fur around the area and clean it with some diluted chlorexidine twice a day for the next 3-4 days. The antibiotics and antinflammatories you are giving are fine but Ronny might need to have that wound sutured, it looks quite a large gap between skin edges.
