My older dog has a ruptured tumor. Are there options besides costly surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I know its probably hopeless. But I would do anything to save my daughters dog. Kayden is a 9 year old Boxer. He went to the emergency vet Sunday night after having a fainting spell or a slight seizure. Findings were a tumor in his stomach. He stretched and ruptured the tumor. They gave him anti coagulants. Surgery was offered as an option at 7k.. Only promising more time. He still eats and is just a little weaker. I told daughter to get a second opinion. But she says waste of money.

I"m so sorry this is happening to Kayden. This actually happened to my dog, who was also a Boxer. He had a splenic tumor that ruptured. I opted not to do surgery because there was no guarantee he would live through the surgery, and even if he did, it was only a three month prognosis. I chose to put him to sleep. You can get a second opinion, but letting him go peacefully may be the best option. Again, I'm sorry.
