Should I get a puppy with inset canines? Will it cause health issues?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Poodle | Male | unneutered | 29 days old

Hello! My breeder just informed me that the one week old poodle I’m getting has a “slight inset on the lower canines” and that “it normally fixes itself when the adult teeth come in.” Should I still go for it and get the puppy or should I wait? I don’t want this to affect my dog later on and have to pay for expensive vet bills. The breeder also informed me that the puppy is eating just fine and doesn’t show any discomfort. But I’m just afraid and need expert advice. Thank you!

I think the best thing you can do is see if the breeder will let you take the puppy to the vet to have this checked out for yourself. The vet will be able to tell you if there will be problems in the future or not. Should the breeder not allow this (and I would ask to do it when the puppy is a bit older, around four weeks), then do not get the puppy. Any reputable breeder would allow a potential owner to do a vet check. I hope this helps!
