My hamster has white discharge and a dark vulva. Is it an infection?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Female | unspayed

She has a white puss like substance coming from her vulva/anal area. That area appears to be darker than normal as well

Your hamster likelynhas anninfdxtion, either from her urinary tract or the skin around her vulva/anus. She will likely need antibiotics to help clear up the infection. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.

    Thanks for reaching out about Miko and including photos. A vaginal plug is fairly normal with hamsters and can be passed, every few weeks, dependent on her reproductive cycle. This should only last for a day or two. If persists, a veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Good luck.
