How can I test my dog's poop for parasites without seeing a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 8 days old | 30 lbs

Is there anywhere or anyway I can have a sample of my dogs fecal sent out to a lab or tested without going through a veterinarian?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Not to my knowledge because the labs have contracts with veterinary hospitals and vice versa. And even if you could, what would you do if there were positive results? Over the counter dewormers work for SOME intestinal parasites but will NOT work for tapeworms, giardia, coccidia, fungal overgrowth...you get the idea. So in those cases, you'd need to see a vet anyway. Best wishes to you and Buddy!
