Is EnteDerm ointment safe to use on my other dog's skin scabs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 10 years and 6 months old | 11 lbs

I have a “EnteDerm Ointment” that my vet gave my Labrador for some scabs he had on his chest, my chihuahua Charlie has some scabs on the outer skin of his penis could I use that ointment for him as well even though it wasn’t prescribed for him? Or should I just use neosporin?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your question! You can safely use the ointment on other skin scrapes and minor cuts without any problems. If the area does not resolve or if it worsens, then I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at Charlie so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further!
