My 8-week Aussie puppy bites at night. Should I crate him for sleep?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Male | unneutered

So it’s been about 4 days since I’ve had my 8 week old Aussie. Every time I go to sleep he wants to nibble on me and my hair. Should I start crate him at night? I crate him when I’m gone he usually cries for 5 minutes and then goes to sleep. I’m not getting any sleep with him in my bed

YEs I would definitely crate him overnight, for everyones safety! It also rpovides a sense of boundaries for him that when you ask him to be quiet and go to bed it is not an invitation to go play and also helps reduce the risk of separation anxiety developing should you need to go away for a night!
