Why is my Great Dane's hair thinning on her sides without itching?

My mums Great Danes hair has started going sparse on the sides of her body. No scratching or any sensitivity but hair is thinning. Every now and then she gets a few pimples on her lower back don't know if this is significant to the hair loss. Pet's info: Dog | Great Dane | Female | spayed | 3 years old | 143.3 lbs

She could have an endocrine disease like low thyroid causing her hair loss, or even though she doesn't seem itchy it's also possible that she has an allergy or external parasite. There are some autoimmune diseases that can cause thinning hair as well although usually you would also see skin changes. Your mum should make an appointment with her vet to have Adele's skin examined.
