My dog has a growing white bump under her skin. When to see vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Female | spayed | 5 years and 8 months old | 5 lbs

My dog has a small white bump under her skin on her back by her left ribs. I think I first noticed it about a month ago and have been monitoring it. I think it may have gotten a little bigger. I just had to put my 20 year old cat down and really don’t want to have to deal with this. Please let me know if this looks like anything. I will eventually take her, I just don’t know if it’s something that needs to be rushed?

I'm so sorry about your kitty. It's very normal to need time to process and grieve and not want to deal with things for a while. While any grown could be cancerous, this one doesn't look horribly suspicious. I would recommend getting her in before the end of April to have it looked at, or sooner if it's obviously growing.
