My cat gets severe travel anxiety. Why do vets question alprazolam?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 4 years and 6 months old | 13 lbs

We travel to AZ a few times a year in a motor home and I have a cat who gets scared as hell traveling but the meds apralozam for traveling works good and I get static from vets. Why????

I'm not sure, you would need to ask the specific veterinarian in question what his/her concerns are. Alprazolam is fairly commonly used for travel anxiety in cats, but there are also other meds that can work well. It may be a question of personal preference for your veterinarian, based on his/her experience.
