Is it better to keep my blind cat indoors or let her go outside?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 7.7 lbs

Hi, I adopted a blind cat off of streets and have kept her in the compound of the place I’m staying at which is outdoors as she felt uncomfortable indoors. Since then she has got a wound on her head so I took her to the vet and now it’s closed up well. During the time she was recovering I’ve kept her indoors, but I was wondering is it better to keep her indoors from now on or to let her out again. She is quite comfortable indoors but tends to want to go out sometimes.

Since she is blind I certainly think it is safest for her to stay indoors. Even though she has survived thus far outside, it is much more dangerous for a blind cat to be outside. Maybe you can let her out supervised occasionally since she does still want to go out.
