Pet's info: Dog | English Bulldog | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 70 lbs
My dog has started to become extremely aggressive with people. He has never been abused, but I’m starting to think he’s becoming too territorial. He is now two years old and I’m afraid we won’t be able to break this bad behavior. How do I fix this?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. My advice is to get professional help sooner rather than later. This type of behavior is often due to anxiety. I would strongly recommend talking to your vet about anti-anxiety/ behavior modification medication which can make a huge difference! Once the medication is on board, the fear-threshold is lowered, and learning can occur. At that point, working with a reputable trainer in your area is a must. Best wishes to you and Cooper.

Fear aggression towards humans is a complex behavior issue, so it's really best to work with a professional who can help you in person if possible. Generally, treatment for this problem is based on teaching Maizy to associate good things with seeing people, to change her reaction to them over time. It can be hard to do this safely and effectively on your own, so I would recommend getting in touch with a veterinary behaviorist who can evaluate Maizy in person and help you get started on a training plan to work on this issue. I see that you're located in Crofton, MD - Dr. Marsha Reich is an excellent veterinary behaviorist in Silver Springs, which looks like it's only about 30 minutes from you. I would suggest getting in touch with her to see if she can help. Her phone number is 301-384-3900.
