Why does my dog (chihuahua, 13 yo) have bloody slimy diarrhea? It’s been for about a week now and I’m very concerned please get back to me, thank you. -Joshua Batista

I'm sorry to hear that Tango is having this problem! There are many things that could cause bloody diarrhea, so it's hard to say what might be wrong without being able to examine him and run some tests. He may have a GI problem such as an intestinal infection or pancreatitis, intestinal parasites like hookworms or whipworms, or a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease. Since this has been going on for a week and has not resolved, I would definitely recommend taking Tango to the vet for an exam. He/she can do some diagnostic testing if needed to help determine what is causing the diarrhea and get him started on appropriate medication to treat it.
