My dog made honking sounds and coughed while sleeping. Is it serious?

My dog was sleeping in his bed and all of a sudden made quick honking sounds over and over again. He stopped after 15 seconds then coughed and was okay again. Did he just choke up in his sleep or can this lead to something serious? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 14.4 lbs

It could be Toffee had to cough because something in the environment was irritating his throat. I would keep an eye on him for now if he's ok. Should this honking sounds start again, I would have him seen by his vet. Best of luck.
