Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 85 lbs
My 85 lb approx 9 year old Staffordshire mix neutered male has develooed a weird skin condition my vets say they have no idea what it is. But, they feel a $700 ultrasound will do the trick. His normal skin has turned leathery hard on a oblong patch by his ribs and then another patch developed on the other side same place. There have been no food or environment changes. He is current on all shots, no fur loss, no liquid under the skin. It is a little red. And once he yelped when I touched.

I'm sorry to hear that Foster is having a problem! That does sound odd. I suspect your vet may be recommending an ultrasound to see if there are other contributing factors to Foster's developing this condition; He is of an age where we do start to get concerned about things like cancer. Have they done general bloodwork? Or an impression smear (where a slide is pressed against the skin and looked at under a microscope) or biopsy of the skin? You might want to consider a consultation with a dermatologist to get a better idea of whats going on; find one here: https://www.acvd.org/tools/locator/locator.asp?ids=16_Find_Dermatologist Thank you for using PetCoach, I hope that helps you!
