Should I give my dog Deramaxx if he just finished steroid pills?

Question

My dog has been on steroids for about a week and a half. He has 1 pill left for tomorrow. He is out of pain pills and the vet said I can give him the deramaxx for pain. I just read on the internet that you shouldn't mix those medications. I was just wanting a second opinion if I should give him the deramaxx. He goes to back to the vet tomorrow. Pet's info: Dog | Basset Hound | Male | neutered | 7 years and 2 months old | 159 lbs

You are correct that drugs like Deramaxx should not be given currently with steroids because of the risk of GI ulceration. There should also be a wash out period after steroid use before starting NSAIDs (like Deramaxx) appropriate in length for the time on the drug.
