Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | neutered | 12 lbs

My dog is falling and stumbling loss of balance for the past two months. Just a couple days ago he has not been eating or drinking. He’s been laying around and not going to the bathroom outside but inside. He’s also shaking. His vet said he has dementia and he is declining he’s 13 is he dying.

I'm sorry Petey isn't doing well! It does sound like his health is declining, and given his symptoms of not eating and drinking, going to the bathroom inside, and being very lethargic, I would speak to his vet about letting him go peacefully. He may be suffering, and letting him via humane euthanasia may be best for him. I'd take him into a vet now. Best of luck.
