My dog's bloated 10 weeks after heat. Could it be closed pyometra?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 70.5 lbs

I have a 3 year old labrador. My dog has had previous cases of pus vaginal discharge...however it was treated using antibiotics. Then she was pregnant and gave birth to 6 puppies. The next cycle was normal. This cycle however, it's been 10 weeks since the heat cycle and her stomach seems bloated and her uterus enlarged. There is no vaginal discharge. Can it be a case of closed pyometra? She's active and is eating well too. Please help us.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Frooty. I recommend that she sees a veterinarian. Is there any chance that she could be pregnant again? If not, a closed pyometra, as you mentioned, is possible as the time frame is right. Her veterinarian will examine her and likely recommend x-rays of her abdomen. I hope this information helps!
