My dog's flea bites are red and he keeps licking. Home remedies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 15.87 lbs

Hey. So cashew had fleas on him, which we've treated with flea shampoo and anti flea liquid (the one you apply on their back). A lot of places on his body has redness due to the flea bites, which he keeps on licking or nibbling on. One such is on his penis, which is the worst one on his body. Is there any home remedy/ solution I can apply to ease his pain?

There is no home remedy I would recommend - it sounds like Cashew could have flea dermatitis and/or a secondary bacterial skin infection. I would recommend having a vet examine Cashew's skin to determine whether or not he might need oral or topical antibiotics or even a corticosteroid to help with inflammation and itching.
