Why is my cat's spay incision not healing and getting wider?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old

Hello, So I got my cat spayed exactly two weeks ago and im quite worried because despite a lot of scabbing, her incision does not seem to be healing correctly. Matter of fact, it appears as if the incision has been gradually expanding (1/3 of an inch). I would very much appreciate it if any of you guys could take a look because m very concerned for my kitty and can not afford to take her to the vet. If it turns out that it is an emergency I surely will.

That does look a bit scabby, and I see what you mean about the incision maybe being open a bit. Rechecks on incisions typically are free, so call the vet who did Kitz's spay, and see if they can check it out. Best of luck.
