My dog's head bumps are growing. Should I get a second vet opinion?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 7 lbs

Hello, my 7lb 2yr old female mixed Maltese dog has had a cyst-like growth on top middle part of her head. Growth is about 1/2 in. long and 1/8 in. wide, &composed of a cluster of ~7 purple bumps of similar sizes. First noticed it about 1 yr ago. Vet we visited said bumps appear to be cysts &as long as she is not in pain, just to let them be. Vet poked one bump & blood released. Since vet visit, bumps have become slightly larger in size&quantity. Seeking medical opinions&suggestions. Thank you

Cysts can be left alone if they aren't getting bigger or bothering the dog, but if the number and size of these have increased, then I would take Mimi into another vet for a second opinion. In this case, it might be a good idea to have them surgically removed. I hope this helps!
