My dog still has fleas after flea meds. Why are they lasting?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | spayed | 2 months and 20 days old | 25 lbs

Mia is on revolution flea meds. I just gave her a bath and four fleas came off of her. I keep finding them. I don’t get it. Why aren’t they biting her? Don’t understand why they’re lasting so long. I feel like I’m failing as a dog mommy. Even my huskies don’t have fleas and they’re outside dogs.

Fleas live in the environment, not on the dog. They jump on the dog to feed, and then jump off. If you haven't disinfected your home, that will be a continual source of fleas. You aren't failing! Wash Mia's bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. I hope this helps!
