My dog has a lump on his face, but acts normal. Is it a spider bite?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund miniature | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 10 days old | 5 lbs

Peewee has a lump in the side of his face that was not there this morning, could it be a spider bite? Should I rush him to the vet? He is acting normal and it doesn't hurt him when I touch it.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Peewee. Since it doesn't hurt him and he's acting normally, keep an eye on him for now. Should the lump get bigger, starts to bother him, he has trouble eating, becomes lethargic, or anorexic, then I would rush into an ER vet right away. Otherwise, you can wait until the morning to have him seen by a vet. I hope this helps!
