Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Male | neutered | 13 years and 5 months old | 141 lbs

If my dog is showing signs of pancreatitis. But it hasnt been 24 hours. Should I just remove food and water and see if he improves or take him to vet regardless of how long he has had symptoms?

Hello, thank you for your question about Bettis. I would not recommend removing Bettis' food and water as this can lead to dehydration and progression of pancreatitis. If her symptoms are more mild you could offer her some bland easily digestable/low fat food such as boiled chicken/hamburger and white rice. If she will not eat or continues to have symptoms I would recommend having her seen by your veterinarian. Hope this helps!
