My senior dog has a dry abscess for 6 months. Does it need surgery?

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | neutered | 12 years and 2 months old | 47 lbs

We have a Golden Retriever who has had an abscess for 6 months. He’s 11 years old. And although the abscess is dry, we are wondering if it needs surgery?

That has been there for a while, and it looks kind of gross. I think this is something that you should discuss with your vet. They know Tong's heath status and if it's worth taking it out or not. I don't like the look of it, so personally I think surgery may be best, but speak to his vet. Best of luck.
