My old cat strains in a pooping position while kneading. Is it age?

When Sara kneads , I've noticed she goes into a pooping position and strain while she kneads . No using the bathroom or anything. She just gets into that position when she kneads. Why does she do that?? I've noticed she started doing it a week ago. She's 18 years old. So I don't know if it's her age or what. Please help! Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 18 years and 10 months old

It could just be a coincidence that she is in that position but likewise she could be going into that position because she is uncomfortable etc. I would have her checked out by your vet to make sure there is no underlying medical reason she is doing this.
