My new puppy has diarrhea and a long worm. Is it roundworms? Dewormer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 lbs

Adopted a mixed breed puppy, supposed to b about 8 wks old. Later that evening we noticed she had diarrhea. The next day we saw a worm in the diarrhea, roughly 8"-10" in length, & tapered at both ends. 1. Should deworming have already taken place prior to her being adopted out? 2. I suspect this to be roundworms, do u agree? 3. If it is roundworms, should the following medication clear this up? "Bayer Quad Dewormer Tablets for Dogs 2-25lbs, 4 pack" Vague instructions, please help.

Congrats on your new puppy! 1. Yes deworming likely should have taken place, and when a deworming treatment is given, you can see worms passed meaning the medication is working. 2. Yes, it does look like roundworms. 3. Yes, the Bayer Quad Dewormer Tablet should help. For Poppy's weight, she should get 1 tablet. I hope this helps!
