My cat just mated. Could she be pregnant? When do I start counting?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 9 months and 15 days old | 5.5 lbs

So turns out Alakay is a female. Yesterday alakay was rolling on her back and purring loudly and I thought it was weird for a male to do this until late at night I saw my male mating with her. So she mated yesterday and today multiple times does this make her pregnant? when should I start counting the days of pregnancy?

Alakay is young to be having kittens and you will need to be especially vigilant that she does not need help taking care of the kittens. She's also pretty small and you may consider getting radiographs done at day 45-60 to know how many kittens to expect so you will be aware of any potential problems delivering the kittens. If you do not wish her to have the litter, talk with the veterinarian now about getting her spayed. You start counting pregnancy from the day of breeding.
