How to make my cat comfortable after moving to a new apartment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Male | neutered | 5 years and 8 months old | 13 lbs

I moved yesterday into an apartment with my cat. He hasnt touched his food at all this morning or last night and hasnt used the litter box yet. What should I do to make him more comfortable? He's currently hiding under the couch. He did explore a little bit this morning but is back to hiding. Im worried because I haven't seen him drink either but he could've when I was sleeping. What should I do?

Moving into a new house is stressful for a cat. If you can catch Prince Caspian, move him into the smallest room in the apartment with food, water, and a litter box. This will allow him to feel more comfortable and safe, and adjust to the new place. After a few days, let him out to start exploring. If he still isn't eating by tomorrow, then that is quite serious and you need to take him into the vet. I hope this helps!
