Why is my dwarf hamster sleeping all day, hiding, and not active?

Almost a week ago now I bought my first Dwarf Hamster and I'm starting to have some concerns about him. I know they are nocturnal but when I looked it up it said they should sleep approximately 8 hours a day where he seems to be sleeping mostly day and night only coming out 3 to 4 times a day. He also has not used his wheel once and the recommened cage seems to be too small as I can't fit a house inside so he has to burrow and hide. He used to let me pet him the first two days but hides now. Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Male

Thanks for reaching out about Little Buddy. He could be scared or ill. Does he appear to have maintained weight? If he is not using the wheel and the cage is too small, take the wheel out to give him more room. Monitor food intake and defecation. If concerns continue, a veterinary visit is recommended.
