Should I take my cat outside for comfort before at-home euthanasia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 13 years and 10 months old | 6 lbs

Hello, we know our cat is at end of life. Euthanasia in 2 hrs at home. CKD/CRF since October. All the standard treatments (sub Q fluids, renal diet, etc.). QUESTION: it is a warm and lovely morning here, is it advisable to bring the cat outside in her comfortable bed for some last exposure to nature? Or better to leave her in the cooler darker house? Thanks.

I hate to hear that about Remy. Losing a pet is always hard. You don't want to cause Remy any stress. If going outdoors will make her more stressed or struggle to leave her bed (or even escape), then I advise against it. A good alternative may be to position her in a warm window seal or other sunny location. Use your best judgement as you know Remy better than anyone. My condolences.
