What are these bumps on my dog's mouth? Should I use Benadryl?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 11 months old | 85 lbs

Our poor Remington has had these awful bumps on his mouth for about 2-3 days now... I’m not sure what it could be. Our vet has told us over the phone to try Benadryl for now, to help with swelling if any comes, and also to prevent him from itches and him scratching (which he’s done). I’m new to this app, but what should we do? What do you think it is? Looking for professional advice.

In my opinion this presentation would require a check up at your local vet and possibly antibiotics. I would suspect a primary or secondary bacterial infection but allergies and autoimmune disorders may be present as well. I do not think Benadryl will work unfortunately but buster collar will avoid further lesions.
