Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 17 years and 10 months old | 9 lbs
My 17 yr old cat is in renal Disease which worsened in the last 2 wks. I am dispensing 1ml of aluminum hydroxide every 12 hours. How do I know if he inhaled it instead of swallowing it? His breathing sounds like there is fluid in there.

Hi there. Usually inhalation would not cause fluid in the lungs, but I would recommend having Baby seen by your vet if you suspect any lung issues. These can be progressive and get worse rapidly, so if you're able to have Baby checked today that would be a good idea. I hope that helps, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Oh no. Poor girl. Breathing issues in any pet should be investigated to find out what the cause is first. We can't help unless we know what is causing this. I would highly recommend taking her to your nearest vet for a proper exam +/- radiographs, if indicated, to hopefully diagnose the underlying problem and get her treatment right away. If this happened all of a sudden, I suspect she may have asthma and in need of immediate treatment, so its best to get her seen quickly. I hope that your fur baby is able to make a full and speedy recovery. Best wishes and take care.
