My kitten has diarrhea and incision issues after spay. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 4 months and 4 days old | 5 lbs

Hello my kitten 4 months old was spayed on Tuesday. We had two episodes of diarrhea Wednesday night and then had been fine. Today she has another episode of diarrhea but wasn’t bad as it wasn’t to loose to go all over her like the last one. Other than that she has been fine drinking and eating. I wanted to know should I get her checked? She also has a random sneeze aswell. I also wanted to see if her incesion is healing well. Thank you.First photo was the next day, second yesterday.

Oreo’s incision looks to be healing normally. Continue to check it every day for redness swelling or discharge. G.I. upset is the most common side effect from the drugs used during the procedure. I recommend to call the veterinarian and they may recommend a bland diet and a probiotic. If the diarrhea becomes persistent or if Oreo starts acting sick, then she should be seen. The most important thing is to keep the veterinarian in the loop so that they can make decisions in an appropriate timeline. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
