My new stray cat has wounds behind ears and flaky skin. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 11 lbs

A stray cat has started staying with us for a month now. He has some kind of wounds or rashes behind his ears. When we rub his head scales of skin along with fur comes out. Since he is new to us and still getting used to our place we are unable to take him to the doctor. Kindly let me know how can this be treated. I have posted the picture of the wound behind the ear.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Tractor. It is possible that the wounds are due to scratching his ears. His ears may be itching due to an ear infection. This is more likely if there is discharge present in the ears. He will need to see a veterinarian for a diagnosis, but you can clean the ears in the meantime to provide him with some relief. I hope this information helps!
