Why is my 1-year-old cat pushing hind legs & hissing when touched?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed

I don't know what's wrong with her? She's 1 year old and suddenly keeps pushing back with her hind legs. Touching her tail or hind legs causes her to hiss.

Is it possible that Sugar is in heat? Lordosis is a posture that cats will assume when they are having a heat cycle. You can often find videos online as well as pictures. If this is not related to heat cycle then she needs to see her veterinarian as this could indicate pain in the spine or an injury to the spine. When in doubt, play it safe and have her examined. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
