My puppy has parvo after vaccine. Are twice-daily vet visits needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 8 lbs

A puppy that we are currently fostering, has been diagnosed with parvovirus. He was vaccinated last Saturday, 9th March 2019. But seems like he encountered the virus within this week. He hasn't started with bloody and watery stool yet, it's still brown in colour which means it's still in early stages. The vet has advised us to bring him to the clinic twice daily for a week for his medicine. We feel taking him twice won't be necessary and once should be enough. Any advice?

Parvovirus is very serious and I recommend to follow your vet’s recommendations. It is possible that he may not need to go the entire week but you need to see what his response to treatment is first. Take it day by day. Parvovirus needs to be dealt with aggressively and your vet is the best person to trust in treatment of this disease. I hope I Amrood only has a mild infection and does well. Please feel free to post any additional questions.
