Is pine wood shavings safe for guinea pig bedding, even for a week?

Can Guinea pigs use grreat choice pine wood shavings? I see carefresh made a mixture of paper and wood shavings. I'm low on funds this week and I had bought and aired out (for 4 days) grreat choice pine wood for my hamsters. But as I said I'm low on funds and was wondering if just this week I could use the pine wood? I don't want to harm my piggies in anyway.

Generally you want to avoid pine and cedar shavings as they tend to have a higher dust concentration. Carefresh or aspen pellets are the best bedding for rodents in general. If possible, try to avoid the pine. You can always lay down a towel to wash daily or paper until you can get to the store and pick up more of your usual bedding. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

I do not recommend pine bedding. It can cause breathing or liver problems. The wood beddings are more likely to carry mites too. I would stick to a recycled paper bedding, like Carefresh. Great job looking out for Coco!
