Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Female | unspayed | 14 days old
Copper disappeared for about 72 hours last week. We left the cage open on the floor with fresh food and water and he came back. When he did return my daughter noticed that he has no claws on his front paws and there seems to be dry blood. They do seem to be tender when she handles him and he struggles to get around his cage. What can we do to make it more conformable for him and will his claws grow back over time?

Thanks for reaching out about Copper. Not sure if he was digging and scraped nails. This probably is painful and possible infected. A veterinary visit is recommended to provide wound care, antibiotics and analgesia. Removing substrate and replacing with clean towels could help prevent further infection. Neosporin and other topical antibiotics can cause serious gastrointestinal disease and are not recommended. Good luck.
