Why is my dog restless, spinning, won't eat or drink after being outside?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 11 months old | 4 lbs

This evening, after going potty unattended outside, with her 2 sisters, Ana started spinning in circles, is restless, can't sit still, can only be still when I'm petting her belly, must be near me, and will not eat or drink anything. It's been about 3 hours now. What in the world could she have gotten into out there? There is some sewage leaking into the field out there close, should that be off concern?

If Ana is still continuing this behavior, I recommend to have her seen by her veterinarian. Toxin exposure, severe abdominal pain, or perhaps a severe anal gland infection could all cause this type of restlessness and discomfort. Sewage can carry toxins. Try to keep the dogs away from that area. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
