Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Male | 4 years and 9 months old
Trick has had blood tests and the results came back normal but his urea levels were slightly higher than normal vet said perhaps it's just because he is on a high protein diet and he was slightly dehydrated he is on previcox twice a day for a day and once a day the next and codeine twice a day for hip arthritis and lower back arthritis could that be causing it as he has always been on a high protein diet due to weight issues keeping it on he doesn't drink much either

Your veterinarian is correct that it could be related to the diet and some dehydration. You definitely should follow up with another blood test in three months or have a different kind of test called an SDMA. The SDMA will catch kidney disease well before there is an increase in the kidney enzymes levels. Talk to your veterinarian about this option. The most important thing is to catch kidney disease early. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
